Santa Claus might steal the spotlight at Christmas, flashing his jolly grin and doling out presents—if you’ve been good, of course. But the Bible invites us to a far more thrilling truth: the ultimate gift-giver isn’t Santa, it’s Jesus. And here’s the twist—you’ll never be “good enough” to earn God’s favour. As Ephesians 2:8 reminds us, the ecstatic joy of salvation is an unearned, irresistible gift from God.
The good news of Jesus – the gospel – is a dazzling, life-changing message that completely outshines the tame, checklist morality of Santa. By living the perfect life we couldn’t live and dying the death we deserved, Jesus lavishes love on sinners – yes, those of us squarely on the naughty list. If you’re human, congratulations: you qualify.
Church isn’t a club for “good people.” Christians are just like everyone else, with one key difference – they’ve recognised their need for a Saviour. And by God’s grace, they aim to live a life that matters, making a real difference in the world around them.
